Today started with a sort of misty rain, rain that just seemed to hang in the air and wait for you to hit it. I cycled towards Inverness and passed the Culloden Battle fields along the way. On getting to Inverness I had a choice of going 5 miles out of my way to visit Loch Ness, or carry on with my planned route. Looingout where Loch Ness was the sky looked very dark and menacing. So I decided not to go and headded towards Inverness across to Black Isle. It was a short ride across Black Isle back to the main land and the  road followed the Cromarty Firth. Cycling along here there was a small crowd of people looking out to the water, on getting closer I could see they were looking at Seals swimming about in the water. I stopped for a little bit to watch, before carrying on. I cycled across Eastern Ross which was hilly and had some dense pine forests running along the sides of the hills. I reachd a clearing which looked out across the Kyle of Sutherland which gave some brilliant views across the Dornoch Firth to Bonar bridge.
From here I went through more pine forests to Lairg, passing Carbisdale castle on the way.
