Wow
what a day. I started of from Brampton this morning and the weather was very dull and
overcast. I cycled to Lang Holm and on over then boarder and in to Scotland. then I turn
in to the Eskdale from here the scenery change and I found myself cycling through the
hills and into the Eskdalemuir forest which is a forest off pine trees that goes on for
miles. There was not a sole about and only sheep and cows clinging onto the side of the
hills. As I went on it started to drizzle with rain and the clouds around the tops of the
hills. Come down of one steep climb I was stopped by a cow blocking my path. I managed to
get around it and carried on through the empty road weaving its way to Peebles. On
reaching here the sun broke out. I got into the Lindores guesthouse to be greeted with a
parcel and cards from home. In the parcel was a birthday cake from my wife, which was a
nice surprise. Then I had a lovely home cooked dinner that made the 70-mile ride today all
the more worthwhile. Steve |
