So on a sunny Monday morning we set off for Land’s End. We got there early and we were the only people there. I loaded up the bike and set off for the famous sign. Then after a tearful goodbye to carol (her crying not me, plus I'm a bloke and bloke’s don't cry) I was off, then I wasn’t. I got lost in the car park, this did not bode well for the rest of the day!!. I cycled around the coast felling good then after three miles I hit a 20% hill. The 20 % not in my favour, still it was a nice little warm up for the rest of the day.

I cycled around to the lovely harbour of Mousehole and with boats bobbing up and down. Then it was on to Newlyn and through to Penzance. On reaching St.Michael’s Mount the tide was out and there were people making the trip along the cores way

Then after that it was on to quiet country lanes going through Goldsithey, Godophine Cross and Porkellis, then on reaching Stithians I was held up by traffic going to the Stithians show. This is the biggest county show in the country covering 64 acres. Considering it was a Monday morning there where thousands of people queuing to get in. After four or five miles the traffic had died down and it was on to Truro. I stopped and had a look at the cathedral then off to Newquay passing a field of windmills.

Newquay was packed with people all heading for the beach with their surfboards, man. I sat and had an ice cream over looking the beach. Then followed the coastal road to Padstow. This turned out to be a bit of a mistake as it was very hilly, either 17% hills going up or down. Mostly down. Then I reached Padstow about 4.30 and checked into the lovely guesthouse.

See you tomorrow
